And the final piece of the Dynasty puzzle finally signs his extension. The architect who locked up Joel Quenneville, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Nik Hjalmarsson, and Corey Crawford is extended through the 2020 season. With the core of the team in place, Joel behind the bench, and Stan Bowman pulling the strings, the Blackhawks Dynasty is going to live on for years.
Stan Bowman has done something no other GM in sports has done. He has completely rebuilt his roster time and time again while keeping the Blackhawks in Stanley Cup contention every year. He’s doing all this Dynasty building with a salary cap no less! In a league designed for parity no less!
I’m so happy to be a hockey fan. Yeah it’s niche. Yeah the NFL is king and always will be, but that doesn’t mean it’s a better product than the NHL. Friends is like the most popular show ever and it sucked. The NFL is Friends, and the NHL is Mad Men. The ratings aren’t great, but the people that know, know. If I only had that big game feeling once a year and my team lost I don’t know what I would do. Probably kill myself. Luckily the Blackhawks have two months of big games every year on their way to the Stanley Cup. Wouldn’t trade this Dynasty for anything.
